Aussie home care brand relaunches with Zero Waste range
With Australians increasingly opting for Australian made and sustainable products, eco-friendly and sustainable brand Resparkle decided it was time for a zero waste collection.
Founder Pearl Chan says being a zero waste brand has always been a long off lofty goal of the brand.
“Would it even be possible to create a product that did not contribute to single-use plastic and contribute to landfill? This was always the dream for me and I’m so happy to have finally achieved our goal after eight sustainable years with Resparkle,” she enthuses.
Creating a zero-waste cleaning brand was ultimately inspired by a burning desire to prove that you can build a profitable and successful business that also serves a greater good. The desire originated from being disillusioned by a few incidences in Chan’s past corporate career as a private banker, with the last straw being 911.
“As I imagined all the lives lost in the buildings that looked exactly like mine, it truly was a wake-up call for me. I asked my almost 30-year-old self, would I be happy with the life I led if a plane came through the window that morning? The answer was a resounding no. I didn’t know what it would look like then, but I felt that my purpose was for something bigger than being a slave to the bottom line and the corporate culture of profits above anything.”
Melbourne-based Resparkle’s motto is ‘Choose Better’. “Founded on the belief that we’re all capable of making the planet a better place, I believe there is power in the small, everyday choices. By choosing our waste-free and toxin-free home care products, you can become part of the clean planet solution.”
After committing to creating a zero-waste product, the brand aligned on a powder to clean concentrate formula. After a gruelling 12 months marred by countless delays and obstacles, Resparkle has relaunched its home care range in the form of powder-based concentrates that turn regular tap water into cleaning supplies in minutes.
“Our relaunch consisted of our refills no longer coming in plastic pouches/bottles but in compostable sachets made from plants. Our bottles are now glass and silicon protected for durability. By providing a viable, sustainable alternative, we hope to turn the tide on single use plastics.”
Its core range of home cleaning products includes the natural all-purpose cleaner, natural dish wash, natural laundry powder and foaming hand wash. All products in the range are formulated using natural ingredients rated by the Environmental Working Group and are non-toxic for marine life, the planet and human health.
Always looking to the future, Resparkle has a goal of saving two million plastic homecare bottles from entering landfill and there are more zero waste products in the pipeline for 2021.
“As a mum, my hope to secure a healthier planet for my son is something I’m very passionate about. We are currently developing a zero waste personal care range line, starting with a facial cleanser and shampoo,” Chan adds.
“We’re also looking to grow our wholesale homewares business and love to speak with sustainably minded homewares businesses about stocking our range.”
