Aussies love of avocados inspires new VGM International product
VGM International will launch the Avo Shark at the Sydney Reed Gift Fair next month in response to a gap in the market for a fuss-free avocado preparation tool.
Shaped like a shark the product cuts the avocado in half, removes the pip using an adjustable grip and removes flesh using the tail. It is designed so avocado remnants aren’t left on the bench and is dishwasher safe.
“We tested a number of existing avocado tools and found that most are designed for only one or two parts of the avocado preparation process, or they might only work well for a certain size of avocado,” says John Schoeman, VGM International managing director.
The Avo Shark was inspired by Australians’ love of avocados. According to Avocados Australia our consumption has doubled in the past decade with more than 2.7kg eaten per capita each year.
Early response to the product has been positive with it already sold to customers overseas and patented in the US and Europe. Retailers can also take advantage of an instructional video and CDU packaging. It retails for $14.95.
The February gift fair is expected to be a big one for VGM which will show its biggest product offering ever. Not only will it have the Avo Shark on display but will unveil new products for its brands including Savannah and Zeal.
