Australian natural skincare brand launches at First Instyle
Rohr Remedy, which creates beautiful skincare products by combing Australian bush medicines with modern science, made its first trade fair appearance at Life Instyle Sydney last month.
Founder Emily Rohr says the fair was an ideal space to launch her all natural products to a wider market.
“As we are a new Australian product we thought First Instyle would be the perfect platform to represent our brand,” she says. “We absolutely loved it and we were exposed to some amazing stores that are now stocking the brand.”
The product range is beautifully packaged and includes ‘eight essentials’: a Kakadu Plum face serum; Boab and Rosehip oil; Australian wildflower deodorant; Gumbi Gumbi lip balm; Rosalina face cleanser; Lily Pilly and omega 3 face moisturiser; Honey Myrtle body wash; and Desert Lime body moisturiser.
Rohr says she created the brand to celebrate native Australian ingredients, and was influenced by her family background as her father is a dermatologist and her father-in-law is a chemist, as his father was before him. She also saw chemistry in action while studying art and mixing paint for Aboriginal elders.
“Outside of the studio we often had bush barks and medicines drying out or boiling to make extractions,” she explains.
“This led me to think about merging all these great traditions of skincare and bush medicines, with the aim of creating work opportunities in remote communities, at the same time as celebrating and creating an awareness of our amazing botanical history, and creating something that is unique and really good for your skin.
“It’s amazing what we have in our own backyard. By using natural Australian ingredients we can help educate people about the amazing plants and their healing components.
“We should be eating bush foods as a staple, they are amazing super foods and most Australians don’t even realise it.”
As an Australian brand (the raw materials are harvested locally and manufactured in New Zealand), Rohr believes Rohr Remedy has the potential to do well in overseas markets. She also wants to develop more spa products and possibly venture into hair care.
