Behind the scenes with Splosh
Have you ever wanted to know what happens behind the scenes at wholesaler Splosh HQ? What really goes into the design process and the level of planning that goes into creating a new range? You may know us from trade fairs or for our innovative products, but there’s a lot more to us than meets the eye. This is a day in the life at Splosh.
5:45 am: Our all-star warehouse team arrive at Splosh HQ and get the kettle on stat!
6:00 am: Warehouse manager Mel and team review the orders that have gone down line and see what containers will be arriving at the warehouse. Mel ensures all incoming and outgoing orders are ready to go as the team put on their headpieces, which feature a voice picking system. This state-of-the-art technology results in a 99.6 per cent picking accuracy rate.
7:45 am: The office team arrive at Splosh and get settled for the day. Emails are checked and the coffee and toaster has its morning workout.
8:00 am: Company huddle time! Led by general manager, Laura, the Splosh team are filled in on what the key priorities are for the coming weeks. Next, each of the department heads across sales, admin, marketing, product and warehouse take the team through the latest results and updates.
9:00 am: eCommerce manager Alan takes the marketing and online team through findings and improvements to action for the next season product launch and the online stockist marketing portal.
9:30 am: Full of innovative and unique ideas, creative director Kim takes the design team through a debrief from her latest overseas inspiration trip. They then add their ideas into the mix and start work on creating mood boards for next season’s launch.
10:30 am: Cake time! Warm up those pipes to get singing! TJ our office pup whips out his singing howl and steals the thunder every time we sing happy birthday.
11:00 am: The design team, Kim and our chief marketing officer, Sally, sit down to review the upcoming ranges and finalise the list of new product for each range. The design process is incredibly collaborative and they are constantly brainstorming new product ideas to add to our collections. Our marketing coordinator Gabby is often found in the photography room styling shoots and creating video content.
12:30 pm: The team have lunch together in the kitchen or in our outside eating area. The local café and Sushi Train up the road see a fair few Splosh members throughout the week.
1:00 pm: The customer service team answer calls while the admin team kick into fifth gear and buckle down to get the orders down line. They have a whiteboard in the office to track their weekly order processing competition to see who can process orders the fastest! So far Bec is the reigning champ.
2:00 pm: The warehouse team are racing the customer service team to get the orders out. With an average 24-hour order turnaround time the benchmark is set high! They finish up for the day and pack the warehouse ready for another busy day tomorrow.
2:30 pm: Our sales manager Daniel conference calls our 11 area representatives to discuss new season results and what is happening in their area. They share stories of outstanding store merchandising displays and their findings whilst on the road.
3:00 pm: The merchandise planning team have their weekly catch up to confirm the status of all product imports and exports, making sure to let the broader Splosh team know what new product will be arriving soon.
4:00 pm: The team wrap up another day and say their goodbyes after another busy day at Splosh HQ.
