Giftguide January issue is now digital

As most people have returned from holidays and are keen to get back to business, many of us like to reflect on the past year and what we can look forward to in the new year.

In our industry focus we look back at 2021, but instead of dwelling on the bad stuff, we look at some of the good things that happened including the launch of several new companies, businesses that were sold and some that celebrated major milestones.

While we were able to attend a few local gift fairs in between lockdowns and border closures, we weren’t able to travel overseas to visit fairs such as Maison&Objet Paris in September 2021. However, BDA London’s Trendhub team was in attendance to scope out the latest trends across home and interiors. Read their report in our trends feature.

TheSuperCool started as an experiment and has become a successful business celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2021. In our retail feature we chat to the husband and wife team behind this retail emporium about surviving two years of lockdowns, starting a family in between store launches and their long-term plans.

While 2021 was another tough year, small retail businesses are hopeful about the future and expect to be back at pre-pandemic trading levels in 2022. However, research also shows that one in three doesn’t have a plan in place to ensure future success and two in five are worried about finding enough suitable staff. Read more in our retail article.
