Childrens label Haveli Design launches new range
Haveli Design, a recently launched children’s fashion and homewares label based on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, has introduced its latest collection.
Sun dresses, smocks, collarless long-sleeved kurta tops, bib sets, filled nappy covers and sunhats (in sizes six months to six years) make up the fashion range, with baby blankets, pillows, sheets and cot sets included in the homewares offering.
The Haveli Design label came about while label creator Karmin Kenny was travelling in India. She was inspired to make the trip after seeing glittering sari fabrics at a street market in Melbourne some 10 years prior.
When she witnessed the block printing process for the first time in India, she knew that it would form the centrepiece of her label.
“Block printing is an antidote to mass production,” says Kenny. “No two pieces are exactly alike.”
Each piece is created form block printed fabric with the label’s most popular prints including whimsical sea creatures, elephant and paisley motifs. Using the ancient Indian technique of block printing, hand-carved wooden blocks are repeatedly stamped on cotton to create the unique prints that characterise the range.
Since its launch in May this year, Haveli Design has steadily welcomed a growing number of retail stockists in Australia and Internationally.
