DesignByThem unveils first chair design
Sydney design firm DesignByThem has completed its Butter range with the release of its first chair.
The Butter chair joins a collection made up of a stool, bench, seat, bar stool and coffee and side tables.
“We released the Butter Stool in 2010 and have since had many requests for a chair to match, especially for restaurants that often have both casual stool areas and formal dining areas with chairs,” says Sarah Gibson, director.
“The stool and chair share a similar seat component. The back rest, however, has been designed to frame the chair when viewed from behind which is how it is most seen when tucked underneath a table.”
Made from recycled plastic that is UV resistant, it is available in eight colours including orange, green and beige. Back rest colours can be mixed and matched with the colours available.
DesignByThem has had a positive response to the Butter Chair with the childlike look and minimalist design named as popular features.
While the Butter range is complete, DesignByThem is looking forward to creating more chairs.
“We are now working on other ranges,” adds Gibson. “We do, however, love the recycled plastic that is used to make the Butter range and hope to use it on other products in the future.”
