Drink bottle changes as child ages
a melbourne mum has created an adaptable drink bottle to help parents avoid buying multiple products and throwing out numerous plastic bottles.
lisa ryan was concerned by the number of plastic baby bottles and sippy cups she went through while raising her two children.
the adaptable kiddie bottle is made with food grade stainless steel and designed to be tough enough for long term use and can be fitted with a nipple teat for newborns, a sippy top for toddlers and a sports lid for older children – these parts are compatible with those sold by leading brands for easy replacement if lost or damaged.
“the adaptable lid means less waste for the environment and less spending for parents, and unlike most bottles for the under-twos, these are not made of plastic,” she says.
“as a parent, i couldn’t understand why anyone would want to expose their new baby to the harmful toxins found in some plastics, so i began looking at alternatives. there wasn’t much out there, so i decided to create my own safe and sustainable version.”
available from kiddie concepts the bottle is aimed at young children with large, easy grip handles and a lightweight yet durable body.
the bottle’s wider neck makes for easy cleaning and allows plenty of room for ice cubes or frozen breast milk.
ryan has given her product minimal decoration to prevent paint chipping during the teething stage.
“although there are lots of colourful bottles out there, for this age group i really believe it‘s best to put safety before aesthetics. i know a lot of parents feel the same way, so hopefully my product gives them more choice,” she adds.
