Preparation, a strong product mix and a custom built stand have helped Gilshenan Imports to take out the best large stand trophy at the Sydney Home & Giving Fair held at the Sydney Showgrounds last week.
Using a custom built stand purchased several years ago, the wholesaler began working on its display in November last year by setting up the stand in its showroom and making adjustments based on visitor feedback.
“It was good to be acknowledged for all of the effort made for trade fairs, not only for this fair, but all trade fairs we attend,” says Kyle Hartmann, Gilshenan Imports co-owner and director. “However, it is more important to us that our customers… respond well by placing good orders.”
While unsure why this year’s stand caught the judges’ attention over past displays, Hartmann thinks his team might have got the mix of merchandising, product and custom stand right.
“We put in the same amount of effort we always do but perhaps this year it was our product offering that drew people to the stand.”
Gilshenan Imports’ sales were stronger than last year despite hearing concerns from retailers about the state of the market.
Its brands Parlane and Shadows performed equally well but the Quotes Candle holder has almost sold out despite a large quantity available.
