Kate & Kate launches to trade
After a successful debut late last year soft furnishings brand Kate & Kate will make its first trade show appearance at Life Instyle Sydney, Royal Hall of Industries and Hordern Pavillion Moore Park.
The label was created by sisters-in-law Kate Pascoe Squires – blond and from Sydney and Kate Pascoe – brunette and from Melbourne – who both loved blankets and throws but couldn’t find what they wanted.
“I suppose our focus is really on clean lines and quite modern,” says Pascoe Squires. “We want our design to be able to cross from being attractive to people with babies and kids right through to interiors and throws for the home, so our designs are definitely focused on an adult aesthetic but something that can be used in many different ways.”
Kate & Kate’s range includes a blanket and a throw in three designs. They will launch a new blanket for autumn/winter at Life Instyle.
“We were undecided at the start but we know Life Instyle is almost a rite of passage for any new designer so we really wanted to get involved. We’re as excited about seeing what other people are doing as we are about showing our own goods and I just think in terms of being part of that creative community I think if you’re operating on a certain level it is important to get involved. We’re really excited to be doing our first trade fair.”
The duo hopes to add to their list of stockists with retailers who like good quality and have a nice eye for product. “So looking for retailers that are like minded would be the main aim,” explains Pascoe Squires.
Kate & Kate plan to grow their product offering with more goods for the home in the same clean look as its current items.
“The blankets that we’ve released certainly set the tone for the way things will look, you know anything released under the Kate & Kate umbrella would definitely carry along those lines.”
