Luxury children’s brand launches
Inspired by the contrast between traditional children’s wear and modern trends, Karena Simpson founded high-end baby and toddler brand Pappe.
Like many brands, Pappe was born when Simpson spotted a gap in the market after becoming a mum. She was on the hunt for stylish, high quality children’s wear but found that the clothes available didn’t meet her expectations in terms of design and sophistication.
As a result, Simpson’s brand has a timeless, minimalist aesthetic across the clothes and accessories with neutral colours, classic tartans, chambray and navy.
Pieces in the debut Pappe collection include 100 per cent organic cotton wraps, 100 per cent cashmere cardigans, and the Winsome Lace Ups leather shoes, handcrafted in an Italian village.
Using these luxurious yet practical fabrics is extremely important, says Simpson.
“We’ve travelled all over the world to France, Italy, Scotland, Japan and London to ensure the fabrics we use are handpicked for their premium softness and longevity,” she explains. “We use only the finest Scottish spun cashmere, organic cottons and pure wool blends.
“However, being a mum, I understand the need for practicality. We are, after all, a children’s brand. Our pieces are neither heavily adorned nor labelled, but instead we focus completely on design, craftsmanship and refinement.”
Simpson is currently developing a new collection she hopes to release in the coming months.
