Marmoset Found launches new collection
After 18 months of work, Cherie Slater and Nareen Holloway of homewares wholesaler Marmoset Found are excited to showcase their biggest range yet.
Featuring ceramic bowls, plates, platters and vases, Cloud builds on the handmade texture and muted colour palette the brand has become known for, and Slater and Holloway say they are very pleased with the result.
The products are designed in Australia and developed by artisans and craftspeople across Asia. “Each piece in our range has a handmade element to it and most pieces are entirely handmade,” they explain.
“We love the irregularities that come with making things by hand and believe this adds value and uniqueness to our range. We are not at all interested in mass production.”
Cloud will be on show at Life Instyle Sydney this February along with new products in Marmoset Found’s winter range. This includes frayed cushions and throws in wintery tones, basketware in lots of new shapes and a larger design of the brand’s popular wire pendants.
Both mums of small children, Slater and Holloway first met in their local park and bonded over a mutual love of homewares and interiors. This grew into the decision to launch their own range with the aim of developing an evolving collection of beautiful homewares.
“We took the plunge to start our own business after agreeing that we were seeing the same products everywhere. We wanted to find new and beautiful pieces to bring to the market, so we booked our first trip and have been travelling ever since.”
Not content with designing products for Marmoset Found, Slater and Holloway have also recently ventured into retail with Wren Store, a clothing and homewares boutique in Melbourne’s Carlton.
With so many projects on the go, life is busy for the pair but this brings a lot of variety and fun.
“In any week we could be prepping for a photo shoot, designing a new product range, getting ready for our next trip, liaising with our stockists, fulfilling magazine requests, popping in to visit the girls at Wren Store or designing our trade show stand.
“Autumn will see us off on a planning trip to meet up with our manufacturers and also check on the development of new product samples.
“We are also hoping we can squeeze in a few days of relaxation while we are away.”
