established in london, uk, in august 2010, olli ella has created an international stir since presenting design-conscious parents with a stylish alternative to traditional nursing chairs. since the company’s launch, olli ella gliders have become the ‘it’ nursing chairs in europe.
not only is olli ella now available to australian customers, the highly coveted collection is also being entirely manufactured in australia. since its founding, olli ella has been committed to offering high-quality, locally produced products.
the company’s new australian manufacturing capabilities will mirror its london one, in which each piece in the collection is made to order by skilled craftsmen using the finest materials from pbde-free foam and oeko-tex certified upholstery to solid hardwood frames and hand-sprung seating.
the olli ella collection features three eye-catching gliding chair styles and two complementary ottomans, all boasting ergonomic design and offered in a bevy of playful colour options. the collection is fresh and youthful yet classic and elegant, appealing to mums, dads, and design-lovers alike.
olli ella was founded by 20-something sisters chloe and olivia brookman, who spent their formative years in sydney.
“we are delighted to bring olli ella to australia,” says chloe.
“since launching the collection last year, the response that we have received from our australian customers has been overwhelmingly positive – the opportunity to manufacture in a country so close to our hearts is very exciting.”
olivia adds that minimising their carbon footprint is of paramount importance.
“the decision to move a portion of our manufacturing to australia was an easy one and in keeping with the overall ethos of olli ella,” olivia says.
“the move means that the cost to both customers and the environment is less. also, by making the chairs locally, australian customers will receive their handmade glider more swiftly.”
when designing the olli ella collection, chloe and olivia were adamant that the pieces would look at home in any room in the house.
“it became apparent to us during the r&d stages of the collection that most traditional nursing chairs are discarded by parents once they have served their purpose. we wanted to create a chair that was not only functional, but stylish; a great piece of furniture, not just a great nursing chair,” chloe explains.
