Online store and design label Cubbylove launched
Brisbane based homewares brand Cubbylove has started work on its second collection after positive response to its debut range.
Founded by Magda Bufalino with help from her partner Jai, Cubbylove currently offers cushions, wooden placemats, bunting and planters.
The business was part of Bufalino’s long term plan to start her own business after working in a range of fields from social science to corporate entertainment.
“The name is inspired by a general fondness for cosy places, and the ability to turn any space into somewhere that you love,” she says. “I am a bit of a homebody, a constant collector, maker and re-arranger. I love moving house and setting up new rooms so moving into the design and production of homewares seemed like the natural progression.
“It’s important to me that my house reflects my personality and style and I like the idea of encouraging others use their spaces as an extension of their character.”
Products are designed and handcrafted in the Cubbylove studio. They are made in short runs with a focus on environmental and ethical principles.
The first collection can be found in the Cubbylove online store and The Happy Cabin store in Brisbane. Bufalino hopes to add more stockists as the business grows.
“As with any new venture, it can be difficult to know what to expect. However the response to Cubbylove so far has been overwhelming,” she adds. “We have received so much love, and it is really flattering and motivating. I think in Brisbane at the moment there’s a lot of support for emerging businesses and we have been lucky enough to find ourselves within a nice little community of young business owners and self-starters, which is really inspiring.”
Cubbylove’s second collection is due to be released summer 2013.
