RM Hall celebrates centenary year
Victorian based wholesaler, RM Hall, has credited family interest and good staff with helping it reach a milestone of 100 years in business.
Launched in 1914 by Ray Hall and his brother Rex, RM Hall first supplied crockery, kitchen hardware and picture frame products to the Victorian region. It survived the Great Depression and World War II to become an innovative company that aims to move with the times.
“It is a special achievement of which we are quite proud,” says Tom Hall, RM Hall director, of the anniversary. “There is also a sense of relief as it seems to have been coming for quite a while. There is no doubt that the industry has changed considerably over the past 10 years, and keeping up with those changes, whilst some of our major brands have fallen by the wayside, has been difficult. I guess that is consistent with our history.
“We have always maintained a broad customer base, which has helped us in changing times and somehow have managed to survive the major events over the past 100 years. Always making sure we provide great service and maintain a connection with our customers.”
While RM Hall will mark the milestone at Reed Gift Fairs Melbourne in August with new products from its key brands, the achievement will mainly be celebrated as a “family affair”.
To ensure the business thrives into the future, RM Hall will place its focus on new skills and product development.
“Fortunately we have a young and dynamic management team that will keep up with the changes in technology and market requirements. Our task is to develop more exclusive RM Hall products so that we can maintain our point of difference. We will continue to work closely with our major brands and place more emphasis on developing our own house brands.”
