The Bowerbird’s Nest brings UK brand Seventy Tree to Australia
Homewares website The Bowerbird’s Nest has secured exclusive distribution rights to English brand Seventy Tree throughout Australia and New Zealand.
Established in 2010 by illustrator Kerry Layton, and run with her husband out of a studio in Devon, the Seventy Tree range includes prints, postcards, decorative tape and homewares, all displaying Layton’s love of geometry, cute animals and colour.
For The Bowerbird’s Nest director Quinta Smith, distributing Seventy Tree in Australia was a logical decision as the brand complements her existing stock.
“The great success we’ve had distributing the Swedish label, Fine Little Day, and in particular their kid’s posters, meant we were open to taking on a similar product as we had the client base to support us,” she says.
“Promoting Seventy Tree to our stockists didn’t take too much convincing – the artwork was already somewhat known here, and has featured on popular design websites and blogs. The bold, minimalist and quirky designs have an appeal of their own and people of all ages are attracted to them.
“When showing my four year old daughter the catalogue she pointed out a few designs which were her favourites – they were the exact same ones I had chosen as my favourites. We might have to fight over who gets to hang them in their bedroom.”
For retailers wanting to stock the whimsical range, Smith advises getting in fast.
“The demand from our existing stockists has been unprecedented,” she says. “Our first shipment lands in the coming week and most of the shipment has already been sold to pre-orders. Everyone wants to get their hands on Seventy Tree, and it’s easy to see why – they’re just so cool.”
