Towelies cross the Tasman into Australia
New Zealand brand STOKEDNZ is introducing Towelies to the Australian market, finally crossing the dicth just in time for summer.
The innovative design creates both a cozy towel and a ‘portable change room’, making the Towelie a practical and stylish addition to beach and camping holidays.
Towelies are ethically made from 100 per cent Turkish cotton and come in several different colours and designs for adults and children. With the absorbent power of Turkish cotton, these hooded towels are like giant, cozy hugs that dry quickly and fit into any bag.
STOKEDNZ was founded by Debra Brockelsby after she suffered a serious brain injury in a freak mountain bike accident and she started sewing to help her navigate the ‘darkest point’ in her life.
“It was always about more than just creating a towel poncho—we made these to go on adventures,” she says.
“My accident made me realise how ‘stoked’ I am to be here and with the Towelie I have created the freedom I always craved.
“When I hear from customers that their purchase inspired them to take a leap of faith in their own life or go on an incredible trip or create priceless memories with their families, that’s what lights me up more than anything else. The Towelie really is the ultimate adventure companion.”
While the STOKEDNZ range has expanded to include a wide range of adventure goods and homewares, Brockelsby has remained committed to ethical and sustainable production.
She is in close contact with the families in Turkey who manufacture the signature Towelies and visits them on an annual basis and also gives back to a range of local underfunded charities and community groups.
“Being able to live out my core values on every level and knowing I have made a difference through my own hardships has been a truly purposeful experience,” Brockelsby says.
