Alchemy Goods makes its mark in Australia
Upcycle Studio has launched eco-friendly US bag brand Alchemy Goods in Australia after signing on as its local distributor.
Alchemy Goods products are made from bicycle inner tubes in a Seattle workshop. They include messenger bags, street bags, belts and wallets. The brand was one of the first fashion accessory labels to be added to Upcycle Studio’s portfolio.
“In all our travels we’ve seen multitudes of bags made from reclaimed materials, India and South East Asia have been doing it for quite some time and do it in abundance, but nowhere had we seen such unique and practical designs with this standard of workmanship,” says Joanne Crocker, Upcycle Studio owner. “We knew in an instant that Australia would love them.
“The Alchemy Goods story is a good one. The brand was born when founder Eli Reich had his messenger bag stolen and struggled to find a replacement that had all the things he was looking for in a bag.
“When his search failed he turned to the inner tubes lying in his apartment and decided to make his own. His friends loved the idea and started putting in their requests and before long the concept had grown into a full blown business which is today an internationally recognised brand,” she explains.
The brand has been well received in Australia with consumers often amazed when they find out what the bags are made of. The products also come with a lifetime repair warranty.
